Fishing is finally starting to pick up on the Miramichi. The Norwest Miramichi has seen its first bright salmon hooked and released this morning. along with lots of river trout in the mix. On Sunday I hooked into a 18.5 inch, 3lbs river trout on a White Tailed Green Machine. Water temperature was at 52F this afternoon and is at .9 meters at Trout Brook. This week has produced a lot of reports on stripped bass, not much on salmon or trout. It didnt matter if you were in a boat, wadding, or even standing on shore you were bound to hook into a bass. I had seen myself catch them not even 10 feet off shore at some points through out the week. In behind the UPM paper mill all the way down to the top of Beaubears island fished well last weekend up until Monday morning, when the smelts seemed to move down the river. Lures of choice anything the looked like a smelt or white jigs. Strawberry Marsh fished well all week. Even one report of one bass...

Well its all most that time of year where fishing is almost has come to a stand still up river. Still a few reports of salmon being caught, but starting to slow right down. Reports on trout have been really poor.Only heard of a few good size ones being caught. The NW Miramichi is in good shape but still could use a good rain. Wednesday last week i did manage to limit out for the 4th day in a row but as of Saturday fishing was slow, myself only hooking one salmon on a #4 Ally shrimp. Nothing seemed to be interested in big spring flies up river. My brother on the other hand had...

One more day!!

Only one more day to go!! The Main SW Miramichi is open, no ice in sight and about a 3 foot drop in water in the last few days.Water conditons almost look like June conditions, clear and low. Quarreyville and Renous boat ramps are still not accessable due to ice chunks blocking them. The NW Miramichi is open from Millstream brook downward with some is still to break off the the river banks. Ice still surrounds the Red Bank bridge yet the NW is clear off ice, with water conditions being low and clear. The LSW Miramichi is still frozen up. Tight lines! Until Wednesday for the next weekly...
